100% of the fishing net and rope used in our plaNET travel mug is collected along the Cornish coastline

The fishing net and rope for our soap dishes and coasters is collected in England and Wales, with the majority from Cornwall and some from Devon

This is carried out by various marine conservation groups, our recycling Partners, and by us

Fishing gear is made from various types of plastics to give it it's durability, longevity and to suit different types of fishing.

This is just one of the multiple major hurdles in being able to recycle this deadly material - identification.

The majority of fishing gear material is polypropylene, nylons or HDPE.

Currently we make our Ocean Plastic collection from polypropylene rope trawl nets.

We aim to utilise other various types of ocean plastic polymers from recycled fishing gear in more of our products in the future.

All of our Ocean Plastic collection's products are proudly made in the U.K. from net and rope retrieved in the U.K.

Our plaNET travel mug is made in a local factory in Cornwall. Our soap dishes and coasters are made by our manufacturing Partners in the north of England.

plaNET mugs:

The marbled outer of our plaNET travel mug is 100% recycled using ghost fishing gear.

Recycling fishing net and rope is an extremely hard, innovative and novel process - all the way from coastline to product it has major challenges.

For us to use recycled fishing gear on the inner part and in contact with food and drink, E.U and U.K regulation has to be updated. This update was started in early 2022 and is still ongoing.

Our manufacturers have already met the standards needed for the recycled net to be used in contact with food and drink in our plaNET mugs - we're just waiting on the regulation to be updated.

We’ll be at the forefront as soon as this changes. In the meantime, the inner is food and drink safe virgin Polypropylene.

The entire mug is 100% recyclable at the end of its life (minus the 2 small leakproof bands inside the lid).

Soap dishes and coasters:

Our soap dishes and coasters are 100% recycled. 85-90% from recycled fishing gear and the other 10-15% from post consumer recycled plastic waste - again, otherwise likely to end up in landfill, or if not retrieved, lost in the ocean forever.

A small amount of non fishing gear recycled plastic is needed due to how the soap dishes and coasters are made and how different polymer types react during the manufacturing process.
